At a gathering to reveal highlights of The Sarasota Ballet’s 2012-2013 season, director Iain Webb proudly announced The Sarasota Ballet has been invited to perform at Ballet Across America III, June 4-9, 2013, a biennial week-long festival hosted by The John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

Ballet Across America is an exploration of the art form, showcasing a geographic range of the nation’s professional companies. Nine companies diverse in size, repertory and history are invited to present three programs of mixed repertory.

The Sarasota Ballet was invited to showcase the choreography for which they are becoming known internationally – that of Sir Frederick Ashton.

The Sarasota Ballet is one of only nine companies selected to perform for the June 2013 program and considers this opportunity a distinct honor.  The other companies invited are Ballet Austin, Boston Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, North Carolina Dance Theatre, Oregon Ballet Theatre, Pennsylvania Ballet, Richmond Ballet, and Washington Ballet. The programs have not been set for the week-long festival, but tickets will be available for sale at this on the Kennedy Center website by Fall 2012.
