Ballet is an art form that touches us deeply and gives expression to feelings not easily put into words. For twenty years, it has been the mission of Sarasota Ballet to “enrich lives, capture emotions and strengthen the community through the art of dance.” Generous support from individuals in the community is essential to maintain the excellence of Sarasota Ballet as ticket sales pay for only a portion of the costs of bringing dance of this caliber to our community.

Become a member of the Sarasota Ballet Association and thanks to you the dance continues! The Sarasota Ballet Association is comprised of members who enjoy the spectacular performances of the Sarasota Ballet in addition to understanding the importance or community outreach and education. Members of the Association graciously volunteer their time and talent to produce activities and events which help support the Sarasota Ballet. Additionaly, they and share their passion for Ballet through advocacy and fundraising, which help support not only what you see on the stage, but the many programs of the Sarasota Ballet.

Members also receive exclusive invitations to monthly showcase luncheons, newsletters and educational information, introductions to dancers, choreographers and master teachers as well as special entree to buffet suppers, cocktail receptions, and special rehearsals.

The Sarasota Ballet's commitment to education

The Sarasota Ballet connects to the community through three educational out-reach programs:

The Sarasota Ballet School
In addition to preparing suitable candidates for a future in the performing company, the School offers structured ballet training with classes in Creative Dance, Pre-Ballet, Ballet Technique, Pointe, Variations, Repertoire, Pas de Deux, Modern, Jazz, Pilates, Yoga, Stretch, Boys and Adult Classes. Dance — The Next Generation
Dance — The Next Generation (DNG) is a full scholarship, seven-year program for at-risk children. The goal of DNG is to prevent children from dropping out of school. The program provides a safe haven and a way to improve self-esteem, learn responsibility and discipline and to gain confidence. Children who complete this rigorous seven-year program may qualify for a four-year college scholarship. The Sarasota School Board has named DNG as an official Dropout Prevention Program. The Trainee Program
Established by Sarasota Ballet Director Iain Webb, the Trainee Program is a two-year full scholarship program for students who plan
to dance professionally. In addition to their daily classes, participants have the opportunity to train and rehearse with the Company. Students are eligible to audition for the program at 16. Pre-Trainees are required to enroll in programs that permit them to earn high-school degrees while simultaneously undertaking intensive instruction in ballet and other dance forms.
