The Company’s 2021 Winter - Spring Season will feature critically acclaimed ballets through digital and socially distanced in-person performances
Iain Webb, Director of The Sarasota Ballet today announced changes to the remainder of The Sarasota Ballet’s 30th Anniversary Season, designed to allow audience members to experience this important anniversary digitally and in person. Full Season and Flex Four Ballet Subscribers will be given the opportunity to attend a socially distanced special performance; in addition, the Company will be creating a new outdoor performance series, which will be announced in the future. While traditional in-theater performances will be converted into digital programs, many of the ballets that had been scheduled for the 2020-2021 Season will be a part of this new digital programming. Additionally, previously announced performance dates for the Winter - Spring Season have been adjusted to allow for filming and editing.
“We want everyone to be able to experience the artistry of The Sarasota Ballet this Season,” explained Webb. “We recognized that in order to reach towards that goal, we needed to adapt and re-think how the rest of this Season would look. In that vein, we hope that we’re providing all our audience members the opportunity to interact with the Company in the medium they want – whether that be through our main digital performance season, through our subscriber performances, or our outdoor shows.”
Joseph Volpe, Executive Director of The Sarasota Ballet added, “While the mechanics and details of our in-person programming for the rest of the Season are still being finalized, we’re working diligently to ensure that these performances are safe for both audience member and dancer alike.”
Subscribers and ticket holders will be contacted over the next few days to help them with the Season Updates.
