Favorite Ballet - Learning, rehearsing and performing Ashton’s Symphonic Variations will forever by the most special, memorable and rewarding experience. It was the first ballet I performed with The Sarasota Ballet when I was 19. I absolutely loved the detailed work we put into rehearsing the ballet, using all rehearsal hours of the day for several weeks straight. As a result, we felt incredibly sure and prepared to tackle the tricky footwork, musicality, and overall stamina the ballet requires. It was the perfect mix of challenge and enjoyment on stage. The camaraderie felt between the six dancers, without a single moment of rest off stage was quite special. A great deal of focus was required each rehearsal and each run through to dance entirely in sync with each other, really as one dancer. I also won’t forget the kindness and support from the other dancers whom I didn’t know yet. It was the perfect introduction to this fantastic company.

Favorite Costume - I have two favorite costumes! One of them is from Ashton’s Birthday Offering. The off-the-shoulder dress with a full tulle skirt is incredibly rich in deep regal colors (mine was purple), sparkling jewels and a star filled crown with a matching necklace. I also am in love with the Diamonds tutu from Balanchine’s Jewels. The bodice is perfectly weighed down by an array of diamonds and jewels, with an airy and light cream-colored tutu. It catches the light and sparkles unlike any other costume. The headpiece is the most ornate and gorgeous spread of jewels and delicate dangling gems that dance around your high bun. There’s no way not to feel like a queen in that tutu/role.

Fun Fact - Over the summer I lived on a small sailboat for two weeks straight with a group of Italians exploring Corsica and Sardinia!
