Ways You Can Support
The Sarasota Ballet is a extraordinary company of both dancers and choreographers that The New York Times has called “America’s foremost exponent of Ashton ballets.” The quality and historic value of the ballets in our repertoire has established The Sarasota Ballet’s reputation for performances that enhance and preserve the art form through the performance of both the great classics and contemporary works.
The Margaret Barbieri Conservatory is a pre-professional training program designed for students who demonstrate a high level of potential. Students are trained in classical technique with great emphasis on artistry and musicality, and purity of line, coordination and a quality of movement. Our goal is to develop graduates who are capable of seamlessly integrating into The Sarasota Ballet and other professional dance companies.
The Sarasota Ballet School students have the unique opportunity to work with professional dancers, teachers and choreographers as well as to dance in Company productions. Dancers from our programs have been accepted to the Boston Ballet, School of American Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, The Rock School of Dance Education, Harid Conservatory, San Francisco Ballet, Julliard, Miami City Ballet and the Orlando Ballet.
Through our Outreach Program, The Sarasota Ballet reaches over 7,000 people each year that might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience ballet. The Sarasota Ballet is dedicated to making ballet accessible to people of all ages, ethnicities and economic backgrounds through free public programming at various venues throughout the region, partnerships with local school districts and complimentary tickets benefiting local charities.
Dance – The Next Generation (DNG) is a one-of-a-kind, 10-year after school program that teaches self-esteem and confidence through the discipline of dance. The DNG program serves students identified as at-risk for not graduating high school at as early as the 3rd grade. The DNG program works to offset the myriad of negative environments many of our students face on a daily basis. Successful completion of this program gives the child the opportunity to receive a college scholarship through our partners at State College of Florida and University of South Florida.
