Levels 1 – 4

Level 1 is where the formal study of classical ballet begins. Students transition to a traditional barre and center floor format, developing strength, balance, and technical precision through structured exercises. The curriculum introduces allegro combinations, musicality training, and age-appropriate conditioning — all with a continued emphasis on proper placement and safe progressions. Students also begin Character class as part of their comprehensive training. Students at this level begin preparations for ABT Exams.

Character Dance: Stylized form of traditional folk and national dances often featured in classical ballets like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker. In these classes, students explore styles such as Hungarian, Russian, and Spanish, developing musicality, coordination, and expressive movement. Character dance enriches ballet training by deepening cultural understanding and enhancing performance skills.


2026 – 2027 SCHEDULE  REGISTER NOW

In Level 2, students deepen their classical technique with increasing complexity and artistic nuance. Work at the barre and center develops with greater attention to turnout, épaulement, port de bras, and dynamic quality of movement. Additional conditioning classes are introduced — including Progressing Ballet Technique and Pre-Pointe — to further strengthen the body and prepare students for the levels ahead. Students at this level are also able to select an elective class in Modern Dance. All students continue preparing for ABT Exams.

Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT): An innovative program that helps students feel how to engage the right muscles for strong, safe ballet technique. Using fit balls, resistance bands, and focused exercises, dancers improve core strength, posture, alignment, and body awareness—all in a fun, supportive environment. Designed to build the muscle memory needed for classical ballet, PBT enhances control, flexibility, and coordination. It’s a great way for students to deepen their understanding of how their body works, preparing them to dance with more confidence and precision in class and on stage.


Pre-Pointe: a specialized preparatory ballet class focusing on developing the specific strength, alignment and muscle control required for dancing on pointe.

2026 – 2027 SCHEDULE  REGISTER NOW

Level 3 represents a significant step in a dancer’s technical and artistic development. Students refine the classical vocabulary with an emphasis on musicality, line, and expressive performance quality. Pointe work is introduced for qualifying students, alongside continued Character training and Progressing Ballet Technique. At this level, dancers begin to develop a deeper personal connection to the art form, supported by faculty who challenge and inspire each student to grow. Selected students will have the opportunity to participate in a Bridge Class at The Margaret Barbieri Conservatory, taking their first steps into pre-professional training. All students continue preparing for ABT Exams.

Level 4 is the culmination of our school-level training — a rewarding and transformative stage for dancers ready to take their technique and artistry to the next level. Classes are comprehensive and challenging, covering intricate barre and center combinations, Pointe work, and a full range of allegro and turning sequences. Selected students will have the opportunity to participate in a Bridge Class at The Margaret Barbieri Conservatory, taking their first steps into pre-professional training. All students continue preparing for ABT Exams.

For students between the ages of 14 and 18 who have prior ballet experience in classical ballet but are unable to commit to the full program, a drop-in option is available for our Level 4 classes. (Please see above).

Drop-in students must purchase a class card in advance. Class Card options are as follows:

$120 for 8 classes
$210 for 16 classes
