Favorite quote: “I do not try to dance better than anyone else. I only try to dance better than
myself.” – Mikhail Baryshnikov
Favorite role: Dancing the principal role in Balanchine’s Allegro Brillante as a trainee at Ballet West Academy was an incredible experience. Tchaikovsky’s piano concerto is, indeed, brilliant, and Balanchine’s choreography is so musical and dynamic. Performing a principal role in such an iconic work was unforgettable.
Favorite costume: James in Bournonville’s La Sylphide is a favorite. The ballet is set in Scotland, so James’s costume features a kilt. The traditional costuming makes the ballet uniquely Scottish, not just one set in another mystical forest. The kilt is also a lot of fun to wear, especially when doing tour en l’air and saut de basque while it flares.
Fun Fact: I love the outdoors, and I really enjoy hiking and camping in my free time.
