Sarasota, FL (August 3, 2018) – The Sarasota Ballet’s Executive Director Joseph Volpe announces today that Chad Morrison will be joining The Sarasota Ballet as General Manager. After spending over a decade with Theatre Projects, a highly respected international theater design company, Morrison will join The Sarasota Ballet administrative staff in August. In his new position, Morrison will help guide the day-to-day business of The Sarasota Ballet, while helping to manage and expand the reach and impact of the Company.
“Chad’s experience as General Manager of Theatre Projects, and his background in the arts, makes him a perfect addition to our Company,” explains Volpe. “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Chad at Theatre Projects for many years.”
As General Manager for Theatre Projects, Morrison was the key decision maker, manager, and administrator for their US operations. During his tenure with the Company Morrison was involved in vast ranging areas of the organization, from advising the board of directors, overseeing administrative staff, to human resources and contracting. Prior to joining Theatre Projects, he worked as a freelance writer out of Boston, and spent several seasons singing with Opera Boston, Boston Lyric Opera, and the Columbus (OH) Opera. He holds a Bachelors of Music in Performance from Wittenberg University and a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music.
“I am thrilled to be joining The Sarasota Ballet and helping to continue to cement the Company’s position in the dance world,” says Morrison. “I’m proud of the positive changes I’ve been able to affect at Theatre Projects—and I know I’m joining the Ballet at the perfect time. I’m excited for this new challenge and the opportunity to work closely with Iain, Joseph, Margaret and the rest of the team in Sarasota.”
